METHODIST SUNDAY TONIC FOR THIS WEEK, WEEK 35 YEAR 2026 - WHO IS JESUS TO YOU?
SUNDAY TONIC 2026 ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL MANUAL
STUDY: WEEK 35
TOPIC: WHO IS JESUS TO YOU?
TEXT: MATTHEW 16:13-28
OBJECTIVE: To identify the true identity of Jesus and who He is to us.
INTRODUCTION
When the question, "Who is Jesus Christ to you?" is raised, a lot of thoughts will flow through our minds. This is so because Jesus means different things to different people. This was made obvious when Jesus asked His disciples regarding His identity and the response showed clearly that He was seen from varying angles. For any man to truly understand the person of Jesus, flesh must give way for the Spirit of God. The reason why we still struggle to lay hands on the true Identity of Jesus is because we are still struggling with the flesh.
POINTS FOR CONVERSATION
1. Who is Jesus Christ? Matthew 16:16; 1 John 4:9; Act 4:11-12; Phil. 2:8-11.
2. How can the flesh prevent us from understanding who Christ truly is? Matthew 16:17; Galatians 5:17; John 3:5-6; Romans 8:5
3. As a believer in Christ, what will your response be if an unbeliever ask you "Who is Jesus to you"?
CONCLUSION
Those that know the Lord shall put their trust in Him. It is not known that God forsakes those that diligently seek him. Jesus is the Saviour of the World but more personally and importantly, Jesus Christ is the Lord (Phil. 2:10-11). It is unfortunate that while many people know and accept Jesus Christ as the Saviour, not many people relate to Him as the Lord. If Jesus is your Lord, you will accord Him the honour of having the last say over your life. Is Jesus the Lord of your life? Who is Jesus to you?
MEMORY VERSE
Matthew 16:16 "And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."
