WEEK/TONIC 32


TOPIC: HOLDING ON TO YOUR FAITH


TEXT: MATTHEW 14:23-31


OBJECTIVE: To encourage believers while passing through trials


INTRODUCTION


Christians are not exempted from life's troubles. Satan often attacks them, hoping that this will make them give up or renounce their faith in God, Trials often bring fear to the heart and create an atmosphere of uncertainty but the voice of the Lord drive away fear. Therefore, every child of God must ensure that he holds on to his faith in God. We must not give up because of many hardships and perplexing circumstances, afflictions, or troubles.


POINTS FOR CONVERSATION


1. Believers in Christ are not exempted from the trial and challenges of this present world. Discuss. John 16:33, 1Peter 1:3-9, James 1:2-4, 12.


2. Trials and challenges to a believer is like pruning of the vine to prepare it for greater fruitiness. Discuss. Acts 5:17-20, 33-41, 2 Cor. 4:7-12, Phil. 2:14-18, Romans 8:18, 28-39.


3. What should our attitude be, in the midst of the storms of life? Matt. 14:30, Jer. 33:3, Heb. 10:23, Isaiah 53:7.


CONCLUSION


The winds will blow, the storm will arouse and fearful situation will come, just like it happened to Peter, but we are enjoined to hold unto our faith, knowing that our Saviour is near us. Our Faith in God should be unwavering while we face even life-threatening challenges as believers. Know that our Lord is ever faithful and He is our helper (Psalm 34:19)
